Shabana hosts Bidco, Sharks face Police in decisive FKF weekend fixtures

Both matches carry significant stakes: Shabana chasing a feel-good homecoming, Sharks fighting for survival, and Police hunting the league leadership.

The FKF Premier League match week 13 continues this afternoon with two crucial fixtures that could reshape both ends of the table, as Shabana welcome Bidco United in Gusii, while Kariobangi Sharks host champions Police FC at Kasarani Annex.

Tusker’s 1–0 win over Ulinzi Stars on Friday, courtesy of a first-half penalty by Dennis Oalo, set the tone for what promises to be a decisive weekend.

Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz remain joint-top on 19 points, with Tusker breathing down their necks on 18. At the opposite end, Kariobangi Sharks sit rooted to the foot of the standings with eight points, joined in the danger zone by APS Bomet (9) and Murang’a Seal (11).

Shabana returns home after more than a month on the road, eager to repay their loyal Gusii faithful after a difficult spell at home. The Glamour Boys last played at the stadium on October 29, losing 2–1 to AFC Leopards, the start of a worrying sequence of three straight defeats on home turf.

Since then, however, Shabana has shown signs of renewal. Despite the absence of injured talisman Brian Michira, the Kisii giants have collected an impressive eight points from their last four matches, all away from home, rediscovering their resilience and attacking purpose.

They now face a Bidco United side struggling for fluency and results. Antony Akhulia’s men are winless in their last six outings, losing the most recent two and failing to score in five of those matches. Their confidence in front of goal has evaporated at a delicate point of the campaign.

History also tilts in Shabana’s favour; they took four points off Bidco last season, while the Thika outfit managed just one win in their last four meetings.

With home fans expected to fill the Gusii cauldron, Shabana will fancy their chances of extending their mini-revival and climbing away from the lower reaches of the table.

Later in Nairobi, bottom-placed Kariobangi Sharks face an uphill task as they welcome defending champions Police FC.

Sharks are engulfed in a six-match winless run and remain deeply entangled in the relegation conversation. Coach William Muluya’s young side has shown flashes of promise this season, but inconsistency and narrow defeats have left them anchored to the bottom with only eight points.

Police, meanwhile, arrive eager to bounce back. Their narrow loss last weekend halted a run of three straight victories, but with the top three tightly packed, a win this afternoon could catapult them to the summit for the first time this campaign.

Francis Baraza will bank on his side’s superior firepower and defensive organisation to navigate what is expected to be a tricky duel. Yet Sharks, fighting for survival, often raise their level against the league’s heavyweights, making this a potential banana skin for the champions.
